She was born on November 10, 1977 in Atlanta (Georgia).
At just nine years old she acted in local plays, and at thirteen she auditioned for television commercials.
In 1991 she got a role in the series "Blossom", which was followed by series such as "Murphy Brown", "Drexell's Class", "Parker Lewis" and "Almost Home".
Brittany Murphy made her film debut in 1993, with a small role in the drama "Family Prayers." In 1994 she took part in the series "Fraiser", and that same year she could be seen in "Five in the Family". She was required to participate in some chapters of the "Sister Sister" series. In 1995 she appears in the youth film "Clueless".

In 2001, she worked alongside Michael Douglas and Sean Bean in the thriller "Not a Word," in which she plays a patient with a long history of violence and failed treatments. With these two films she earned the respect of film critics. In 2005 she acted in "Sin City", a film directed by Frank Miller and in Neverwas with Nick Nolte. A year later she would work in "The Groomsmen. This year she would also be in the thriller "The Dead Girl". In 2006 she appears in a romantic comedy, "Love and Other Disasters".
Brittany Murphy died in Los Angeles, California, on December 20, 2009, at the age of 32, then it was said that after suffering from pneumonia, but after four years the cause of her death and that of her husband, Simon Monjack, could have been a induced poisoning according to a study carried out at the request of her father Angelo Bertolotti, who suspected that his daughter's death had not been due to natural causes. The investigation was published by The Examiner, where the result of the analysis was released: Murphy had ten metals in her body at abnormal levels. According to the report, these metals are generally found in insecticides and rodenticide chemicals.
