Mya Harrison

Biography of Mya Harrison

She was born on October 10, 1979 and grew up in Washington, the daughter of Theresa Harrison of Italian-American origin, and Sherman Harrison, an African-American. She is the oldest of three siblings, followed by Chaz and Nigel.

In 1997 Mýa signed a contract with the record company University Records, owned by Haqq Islam, and in which the group Dru Hill had great capacity. The four members of the group, among which Sisqó stands out, wrote and produced the material for Mýa's self-titled debut.

The first two singles were "It's All About Me", featuring Sisqó, and "Movin' On", featuring rapper Silkk Tha Shocker. Both songs entered the top 10 of the US charts. The video clips of her first two songs, and the third single; "My First Night With You"; were some of the most viewed videos on MTV during 1998. She received two nominations for the Soul Train Music Awards, but both awards were snatched away by Erykah Badu.

In 2001 Mýa, together with Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, Pink and a small collaboration with Missy Elliot, put the soundtrack of the movie Moulin Rouge. This song was nominated for several important awards such as the Grammys and the Mtv. I get to number one on the list of several countries.
