Biography of Emily Procter
Emily Mallory Procter was born on October 8, 1968 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is an American actress.
Procter was born and raised in Raleigh. She was two years old when her parents William and Barbara divorced. While still earning her journalism and dance degrees from East Carolina University, she worked as a weather announcer for the Greenville channel WNTC.
After moving to Los Angeles, Procter's father covered drama school for two years. Before graduating, she was already playing roles in films such as Leaving Las Vegas and Jerry Maguire. In 1998 she got her first leading role in the US television film Breast Man, which also starred David Schwimmer and Chris Cooper.
Furthermore, Procter was two years at irregular intervals in the award-winning US series The West Wing. Her breakthrough came with her role as Calleigh Duquesne in the television series CSI: Miami, which has been running on US television since 2002.
Emily Procter has been in a relationship with musician, producer, bassist and composer Paul Bryan since 2008. With him she became the mother of a daughter Philippa Frances, called Pippa, on December 8, 2010. In an interview that followed, she spoke very openly about this experience, which was new to her, as well as other personal details from her own life, including the fact that she was an adopted child. Her pregnancy was not written into the ninth season of CSI: Miami and her appearances on the show were reduced for the entire season as a result.
Procter has competed in various triathlons and marathons. She is a poker player and has played in at least one celebrity poker tournament. Procter also sings in a 1980s cover band formerly called White Lightning and now Motion. Procter has volunteered with the Young Storytellers Program and helps out in homeless shelters.
Procter's interests include interiors and antiques, which she practices and applies in her Los Angeles home. During the 2007-2008 WGA strike, she designed a house for a friend in Saint John, US Virgin Islands. People magazine's country special (March 2009) wrote that she decorated Kenny Chesney's house in Malibu. She was also a guest judge on the home and garden television show Summer Showdown.
