Biography of Ali Larter
Alison Elizabeth "Ali" Larter was born on February 28, 1976 in Cherry Hill, Camden County, New Jersey. She is an American actress.
The daughter of a housewife and a freight forwarder began a career as a model at the Ford Models agency at the age of 14. At 17 she lived in Tokyo for a while.
At 18, she moved to Los Angeles with her then-boyfriend and took acting classes. In November 1996, Ali Larter became known through the photos for a satirical, fictional report in Esquire magazine about a fictional young actress named "Allegra Coleman" and her equally fictional activities in Hollywood. In 1997 she made her television debut in an episode of the series Suddenly Susan with Brooke Shields. This was followed by appearances on the television series Chicago Sons, Chicago Hope, Just Shoot Me and Dawson's Creek.
Ali Larter's first feature film was the 1999 commercially successful teen football drama Varsity Blues, in which she appeared in one scene clad only in whipped cream. In the same year she was seen in two other teenage films and in the horror film House on Haunted Hill, which also proved to be relatively successful commercially.
In 2000, she rose to prominence as Clear Rivers in the horror film Final Destination, which was also a commercial success and earned her a Young Hollywood Award for Best Breakthrough Performance. The following year followed roles in the comedies Legally Blonde and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and the western American Outlaws. Also in 2001, she appeared in New York City in the feminist stage play Vagina Monologues.
In 2003 she again played the Clear Rivers in Final Destination 2, which was able to build on the success of its predecessor. However, she did not appear in other parts of the series. In 2005, she had a supporting role in the comedy A Lot Like Love alongside Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet. In the years that followed, alongside her television career, Larter appeared primarily in independent films such as Confess (2005) and Homo Erectus (2007).
From 2006 to 2010, Ali Larter played a dual role as Niki/Jessica Sanders in the science fiction television series Heroes and then a new role as Tracy Strauss in the third season. She was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2006 and was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Television Actress: Action Adventure in 2008 and 2009 for her performance on the series. The series was canceled in 2010 after four seasons.
In 2007, she starred opposite Milla Jovovich in the horror thriller Resident Evil: Extinction. In the same year she embodied in Crazy, the biopic of guitarist Hank Garland, his wife Evelyn.
In 2009, she co-starred as stalker Lisa Sheridan in the thriller Obsessed, alongside Beyoncé Knowles and Idris Elba, which topped the US box office opening weekend. Larter and Beyoncé Knowles received an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight, but both also received negative Golden Raspberry Award nominations. In 2010, Larter reprized her role as Claire Redfield in ResidentEvil: Afterlife, the fourth installment in the series, and in 2016 in the final installment Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Larter has been married to the actor and author Hayes MacArthur since August 2009,with whom she has a son and a daughter.
