Biography of Hansika Motwani

Hansika Motwani was born on August 9, 1991. She is an Indian actress who began her career as a child actor in Bollywood, and in her adult years was employed mainly in the Telugu and Tamil film industries.

Hansika was born to businessman Pradeep Motwani and dermatologist Mona Motwani. She has a brother Pradeep. She is a Punjabi by nationality, but a Buddhist by religion. Graduated from Podar International School in Mumbai.

She began her career as a child actor in the children's television series Shaka Laka Boom Boom in 2001. Over the next four years, she appeared in several more television series and films.

In 2007, Hansika made her debut as a heroine in the Telugu film Desamuduru. Reviews of the film noted that the role of Vaishali, the beloved of the protagonist, did not give her the opportunity to show a deep acting game. However, despite this, at the end of the year it was Hansika who received the Filmfare Awards South award for the best debut. Released in the same year, "Aap Kaa Surroor brought her a nomination for a similar award for Hindi-language films.

The following year, she tried her hand at Kannada cinema, starring in the film Bindaas opposite Puneet Rajkumar. The film was a commercial success, but this remained the only Kannada film of her career. The actress also appeared on screen opposite Govinda in the comedy Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, playing a TV actress who wants to act in a big movie. The film itself received low reviews, but Hansiki's performance earned praise.

In 2011, Hansika made her Tamil film debut with the film Mappillai, pairing with Dhanushu. But again, her role did not involve a special acting game, while the critics considered the plot of the film to be hackneyed. In the same year, she starred in the romantic drama Engeyum Kadhal with Jayam Ravi and the masala action film Velayudham with Vijay and Genelia de Souza. Hansika also appeared as the first character in the film "Kandireega" and the second - in "Oh My Friend", both in Telugu.

2012 brought her the SIMAA Awards for the Tamil film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi and a nomination at the Filmfare Awards South for the Telugu film Denikaina Ready.

In reviews of her 2014 film Maan Karate, critics from Rediff.com and The New Indian Express agreed that the weight loss was good for the actress, but her pairing with Shivakarteqian is not impressive. More flattering was her second collaboration with director Sundar in the horror comedy Aranmanai, where she played a revenge-seeking ghost. Aranmanai brought Hansika her second SIMAA Awards for Best Actress.

Hansika appeared in five Tamil films in 2015. One of them was the third experience of working with Sundar - "Aambala". Another is the fantasy film Puli, which is one of the most expensive films in India. Unfortunately, the film did not live up to expectations, receiving negative reviews and a box office failure. Hansika also only had Tamil projects the following year. She reappeared as a vengeful ghost in Sundar's second film in the Aranmanai series, and played the role of a school teacher in I. Ahmed's Manithan.

In 2017, the action movie Bogan was released, based on the Hollywood film “Face Off”, where she played a girl who falls in love and marries the hero of a police officer, whose body is then infused with the soul of a criminal. The Deccan Chronicle noted that she looks adorable in the film and the scene of her appearance is interesting, but otherwise she has "nothing to do other than appear dressed in designer costumes in musical numbers". The same year, she made her Malayalam film debut in the film Villian, where she played a supporting role.
