Kristen Anne Bell was born on July 18, 1980. She is an American film and television actress, in addition to having worked as a theater actress.

Bell was born and raised in Huntington Woods,Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. She is the daughter of Tom Bell, a television news director, and Lorelei "Lori" Bell, a nurse. Bell is of Polish and Scottish descent.5 Her parents divorced when she was two years old. Kristen has two sisters from her father's second marriage: Sara and Jody.

Shortly before her freshman year in high school, Bell's parents decided to remove her from the public school system. She attendedShrine Catholic High Schoolnear Royal Oak, where she was part of the drama and music clubs.

Shortly after her high school graduation, Bell moved to New York City and studied atNew York University's Tisch School of the Arts, with a major in musical theatre.

She also began taking private acting lessons. In 1998 she appeared in an uncredited role in the film, shot near where she lived, Polish Wedding.

In 2001, she made her Broadway debut as Becky Thatcher in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. After moving to Los Angeles, Bell landed various guest roles on television series, and small parts in movies, until she gained popularity with her critically acclaimed performance on the television series Veronica Mars, playing the title character of the same name, a role she held for three seasons, from September 2004 to May 2007.

During her time on Veronica Mars, Bell again played Mary Lane in the film version of Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical, having acted as such in a theatrical production. She also played the lead role in Pulse. In 2007, she joined the cast of Heroes as Elle Bishop, and the new series Gossip Girl as the narrator. In 2010 Burlesque would come to light where Kristen would act as Nikki, the antagonist, along with music icons such as Christina Aguilera and Cher.

She is also known for being the voice of Anna, Elsa's vivacious younger sister in the Disney movie Frozen.

In 2012, Bell starred in the family drama film Big Miracle. she and she participated in the Showtime pay chain series House of Lies, playing the role of Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a business consultant.

She starred in the drama film The Lifeguard, written and directed by Liz W. Garcia, which began filming in July 2012 and was released in August 2013.

On March 13, 2013, it was confirmed that a Veronica Mars movie was finally coming to fruition. Production on the film took place during the summer of 2013, and it was released theatrically and on video-on-demand on March 14, 2014.

In 2016, Bell voiced the slothful Priscilla in the animated comedy film Zootopia, and starred as Claire in the comedy film The Boss. Bell played Kiki in the 2016 comedy film Bad Moms, a role she reprized in the 2017 sequel A Bad Moms Christmas. Bell began playing Eleanor Shellstrop on the NBC comedy series The Good Place, which was distributed by Netflix.

In 2017, she appeared in the biographical comedy-drama The Disaster Artist, the action comedy CHiPs, and the comedy How to Be a Latin Lover.

In 2018, she starred in the Netflix comedy-drama film Like Father. She also voiced the character of Jade Wilson in the animated comedy film Teen Titans Go! to the Movies and reprized her voice role as Princess Anna in the animated comedy sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet.

She began dating actor and comedian Dax Shepard in 2007. They announced their engagement in January 2010. They finally got married in October 2013. They have two daughters: Lincoln, born in March 2013, and Delta, born in December 2014.

In May 2016, Bell stated that she has received treatment for depression and anxiety.
