Biography of Jenna Coleman

Jenna-Louise Coleman was born on April 27, 1986 in Blackpool, Lancashire. She is a British actress.

In her hometown, Coleman attended the Free Arnold School, where she was head girl. She played there a.o. with a theater company and won an award at the Edinburgh Festival.

She is best known for her role as Jasmine Thomas on the British soap opera Emmerdale. In 2007 she was nominated for Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards and Favorite Newcomer at the National Television Awards. In 2009 she played the role of Lindsay James in the BBC drama Waterloo Road.

In 2011, she made her big screen debut in the action sci-fi film Captain America: The First Avenger. This was followed by other roles such as Annie Desmond in the mini-series Titanic or Susan Brown in the BBC Four television film Room at the Top.

From 2012 to 2015 she played the role of Clara Oswald in the seventh, eighth and ninth seasons of the British cult sci-fi series Doctor Who alongside the 11th and 12th Doctors (played by Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi).

At Christmas 2013, BBC One aired an adaptation of P.D. James' Death Comes to Pemberley, in which Coleman played Lydia Wickham.

Since 2016 she has played the lead role of Queen Victoria in the series Victoria; this year she can also be seen in the film adaptation of Jojo Moye's novel Me Before You. In 2018 she plays the Joanna in the British-Australian co-production The Cry. She can also be seen in the theater, as in 2019 in Arthur Miller's drama All my Sons, which was also broadcast on television.

From 2011 to 2016, Coleman was in a relationship with actor Richard Madden.
