Alison Brie Schermerhorn was born on December 29, 1982, in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA. She is professionally known as Alison Brie, an American actress. Two-time nominee for the Golden Globe Award for her role in the TV series Glow (2018, 2019). Brie is best known for her roles as Annie Edison on the NBC comedy series Community and Trudy Campbell on AMC's Mad Men.

Alison Brie was born and raised in Hollywood. Her mother was Jewish and taught at the Jewish Community Center in Southern California, in the theater of which Alison's very first performance took place. It was the play "The Wizard of Oz", where at the age of 5-6 she played Toto, the dog of the main character Dorothy. Bree's father is a musician and reporter. Alison's patrilineal lineage can be traced back to Reyer Schermerhorn, who was born in 1541 in the town of Schermerhorn, in Waterland, North Holland (Netherlands).

Bree graduated from South Pasadena High School and enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts. During her studies, Alison participated in a student exchange program, so she spent one of the semesters at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Upon graduation in 2005, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater.

Before starting her career as a film actress, Bree worked as an animator at children's parties, and also played on the stage of local theaters in California - "Odyssey", "Write-Act" and "Rubicon". Her most famous works at the Rubicon Theater were the role of Margot in The Diary of Anne Frank and Ophelia from Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, for which Alison was awarded the Indy Award.

One of Brie's first jobs on television was the role of an aspiring hairdresser, Nina, in one of the episodes of Hannah Montana. She also played the role of Rebecca Fuller in the Internet series My Alibi. But she was best known and recognized as Trudy Campbell from the television series Mad Men, which premiered on AMC on July 19, 2007. As one of the members of the ensemble cast of the series, Alison received the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Cast in a Drama Series for this role.

From the fall of 2009 to 2015, Alison played the role of Annie Edison in the NBC television comedy Community.

In 2010, she posed for the October issue of Men's Health as part of the Women of Men's Health project, and men's magazine Maxim included Alison Brie in their 2010 Hot 100 list.

In 2011, two full-length films with the participation of Alison Brie were released - the drama "Montana Amazon" and the horror film "Scream 4". In 2012, the actress could be seen in a minor role in Nicholas Stoller's comedy Married a Little bit with Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, in 2013 in the movie Kings of Summer. Also, in 2014, Alison Brie voiced Kitty in the animated comedy TheLego Movie. 5 years later, she will return to this role in the sequel.

In 2017, Brie played one of the leading roles in the series Glow, for which in 2018 (and again in 2019) she received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. In the same 2017, Brie played in James Franco's biographical comedy The Disaster Artist, as well as in Steven Spielberg's biographical drama The Post with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. The film was nominated for 2 Oscars, including the Best Picture category.

In January 2021, the thriller Promising Young Woman starring Carey Mulligan will be released in Russian cinemas. The film tells about a girl who leads a double life and is sure that there is nothing more seductive than revenge. Bree played the role of Madison in the film.

In March 2017, Brie married actor Dave Franco, whom she dated for 5 years prior to their wedding.
