Biography of Sharon Stone

Sharon Yvonne Stone was born on March 10, 1958 in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She is an American film actress.

Joseph and Dorothy Stone's daughter has three siblings: Kelly, Mike and Patrick. She left Meadville in 1977 and went to New York to work as a model.

Her acting career began in 1980 with a role in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories. She went on to play the "beautiful woman at the hero's side" in films such as Police Academy 4, Action Jackson and 1990's Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. She became famous in 1992 for her role in Paul Verhoeven's erotic thriller Basic Instinct.

She then tried in vain to repeat this success with other erotic roles in Sliver and The Specialist. She eventually received a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for her performance in Martin Scorsese's Casino. She also received Golden Globe nominations for The Mighty and The Muse. Despite her appearances in Casino, The Mighty, Last Dance and Gloria, she was soon considered a box office poison.

Sharon Stone suffered a massive brain hemorrhage at the end of September 2001, and she spent nine days in intensive care in mortal danger. It took her two years to learn to walk, see, speak and read again and find her way back to life. Since then she has mostly only accepted guest appearances.

In 2004, she attempted a comeback with the film Catwoman opposite Halle Berry. The film flopped with critics and audiences alike. At the end of December 2005, she appeared in two episodes of the Turkish series Kurtlar Vadisi; she donated her fee to tsunami victims.

2006 came under the title Basic Instinct - New Game for Catherine Tramell a sequel to Basic Instinct in the cinemas. While Stone garnered praise for her performance, the film fell short of commercial expectations.

In addition to films, she also acted as a guest star in various series. In 1984 she had an appearance on the series Magnum, where she starred in the double episode Schwarzer Spiegel at the beginning of the 5th season. In 2003 she was for three episodes in the series Practice - to see the lawyers. In 2010, she was a cast member of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for four episodes. In 2012, she was supposed to play the femme fatale again in the erotic thriller Attachment, directed by Tony Kaye.

From 1984 to 1987 she was married to television producer Michael Greenburg. Her 1998 marriage to journalist Phil Bronstein ended in divorce in 2004. The couple adopted a newborn in 2000, and Stone adopted two more newborn sons as singles in 2005 and 2006.
