Biography of Vanessa Kirby

Vanessa Kirby was born on April 18, 1988 in Wimbledon, London. She is a British actress.

Kirby grew up in the Wimbledon area of London. Her father is a surgeon and her mother was one of the founders of Country Living magazine.

Kirby received her first theater engagement in 2009 at the Octagon Theater in Bolton and has since appeared in many roles at stages such as the National Theatre, the Young Vic or the Royal Court, since 2010 also in television series such as The Hour or Agatha Christie's Poirot and in films.

She played Princess Margaret in the Netflix series The Crown from 2016 to 2017. In 2018, she starred in the action film Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Kirby played MI6 agent Hattie Shaw in the 2019 Fast & Furious spin-off Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.

The Venice Film Festival 2020 marked a first highlight in Kirby's film career, where she starred in two competition entries for the Golden Lion. She won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress at the festival for her performance as Martha in the drama Pieces of a Woman. She also received a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination for Pieces of a Woman in 2021.

In 2022 she began shooting Ridley Scott's historical film Napoleon, in which she will play Joséphine de Beauharnais alongside Joaquin Phoenix.

In the summer of 2021, Kirby became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
