Biography of Meghan Trainor

Meghan Trainor was born on December 22, 1993 in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

She is the daughter of Gary and Kelli Trainor who own jewelry stores on Nantucket. She has two brothers, Ryan and Justin.

Her father was also a music teacher and musician, and plays the organ in a Methodist church. Her great-uncle Bob Lapalm was a member of the rock band NRBQ, and her uncles Lisa and Burton Toney are soca music performers and composers.

She began singing at the age of six with her father at church and playing the piano at the age of seven. Since she was 11 years old she composes songs, at 13, her parents bought her a computer to facilitate her musical composition. In addition to singing, she plays guitar, keyboards, trumpet, ukulele, and percussion. Her first public performance was in 2004 at her aunt and uncle's wedding.

The family moved to Hyannis, Massachusetts, so that she and her siblings could attend Nauset Regional High School in North Eastham. For three years at school she was part of football teams, she was the only girl. She was also a member of a jazz band.

She moved to Nashville full time when she was 16 years old. She signed a songwriting contract with Big Yellow Dog shortly after her 18th birthday, when she was still in high school. She wrote songs for artists like Rascal Flatts and Sabrina Carpenter.

Influenced by the music and style of the 1950s and 1960s, her lyrics include themes of modern womanhood. She pointed to Frank Sinatra and Christina Aguilera as her main musical influences, she also acknowledges inspiration in the work of Stevie Wonder and Phil Collins, and Beyoncé for dance.

In music she predominates bubblegum pop, blue-eyed soul, doo-wop, and pop. They described her voice as "soul" and somewhere between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

In 2011, she wrote and self-released two albums. One was translated into Spanish as I'm going to sing with you.

Later he signed with Epic Records, where he released the song All About That Bass as a soloist, which became his first No. 1 single in the United States on the top Billboard Hot 100, and sounded strongly in countries such as Australia, Canada, Denmark or New Zealand.

He definitively rose to international fame with the release of his first studio album, Title (2015), with which he debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced three top 10 singles: All About Eso Bass, Lips Are Movin and Like I'm Gonna Lose You.

She is the author of the Fifth Harmony single, Sledgehammer, at the end of November 2014 she premiered the video clip of her second promotional song Lips Are Movin.

On May 17, 2015, she managed to win her first Billboard Award in the "Best Top 100 Song" category. On July 10 of this year, she premiered the music video for her song Like I'm Gonna Lose You.

Her next album, Thank You, was released on Apple Music on May 6, 2016, shortly after, on May 13, 2016, it was released commercially. In July, she embarked on The Untouchable Tour, promoting this work.

On February 24, 2017, she released the single I'm a Lady, which she composed for the movie Smurfs: The Lost Village.

The album, titled Treat Myself, was scheduled for release on August 31, 2018, although its release was delayed. The song All the Ways, was presented on June 20, 2018.

Treat Myself was finally released on January 31, 2020, along with her third single Nice to Meet Ya. It entered at number 25 on the US Billboard 200. Her Christmas album, A Very Trainor Christmas, appears on October 30, 2020 and is promoted with two singles, Last Christmas and My Kind of Present, both released on October 6, 2020.

Her work has been recognized with awards and nominations such as the Music Business Association for New Artist. Winner of two Billboard Music Awards in 2015.

She began a relationship with actor Daryl Sabara in July 2016. They got engaged on December 22, 2017, and married exactly one year later.

On October 7, 2020, Trainor announced on The Today Show that she was expecting her first child. In February 2021, she gave birth to her son Riley.
