Melissa Joan Catherine Hart, married Melissa Joan Hart-Wilkerson was born on April 18, 1976 in Smithtown, Long Island, New York. She is an American actress, voice actress, film producer and director.
Hart is the daughter of producer Paula and entrepreneur William Hart. Her younger sister is actress Emily Hart. She has six sisters (three of them half sisters) and one brother. She was named after the Allman Brothers song Melissa. Her middle name, Joan, came from her grandmother, and she chose her middle name, Catherine, as her confirmation name. She studied art and literature at New York University, but did not complete her studies. She speaks fluent French.
In German-speaking countries, Hart was particularly well known for the television series Clarissa and Sabrina. She also appeared in front of the camera for the first time at the age of four for a commercial and shot several feature films in the USA. She is also featured in the music video for Britney Spears' (You Drive Me) Crazy. Many of her films or other projects were not released in Europe, so her notoriety remained far higher in the US. She also starred in the sitcom Melissa & Joey from 2010 to 2015.
In July 2003 Hart married the musician Mark Wilkerson and since then has had the double name Hart-Wilkerson. She continues to appear publicly as Melissa Joan Hart. The couple has three sons (* 2006, * 2008 and * 2012).
