Biography of Amber Tamblyn

Amber Rose Tamblyn was born on May 14, 1983 in Santa Monica, California. She is an American actress.

Tamblyn is the daughter of actor Russ Tamblyn. She attended the Smash theater school in California at the age of five and was discovered by Hollywood at the age of nine in a school play in the role of Pippi Longstocking, which soon brought her the recurring role of Emily in the US soap opera General Hospital. It was followed by other guest appearances in television series such as Buffy - The Vampire Slayer or Withouta Trace.

Tamblyn got her big break in 2001 with the title role in the CBS series Joan of Arcadia, the first season of which topped the US series ratings list the year it aired. Tamblyn's father also appeared in three episodes of the series.

As a result of this career leap, she was a guest on US television greats such as David Letterman and the MTV series Punk'd. Roles in films such asThe Ring and The Grudge 2 followed, as well as starring in Blackout, a thriller by Italian writer Gianluca Morozzi.

In addition to film appearances, other series roles follow. For example, Tamblyn played Detective Casey Shraeger in the short-lived 2009 police dramedy The Unusuals. From 2010 she was in the seventh season of the hit series Dr. House as Doctor Martha M. Masters. Tamblyn had major roles in the 2010 films 127 Hours and Main Street. In the film Django Unchained, Amber plays the daughter of Russ Tamblyn in his role as Johnny Ketchum, the gunslinger's son. From the eleventh, penultimate season of Two and a Half Men.

In 2016, she released her directorial debut with Paint It Black, which she also co-wrote.

In October 2012, Tamblyn married David Cross, with whom she had been in a relationship since 2008 and engaged since August 2011.

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars annually.

Tamblyn has twice received the Hollywood Reporter Award for Best Young Actress for her role on General Hospital. In 2004, she was nominated for Golden Globe and Golden Satellite Awards (category: Best Actress in a Series) and received Saturn Awards for Best Actress on US Television for her role in Joan of Heaven.

At the Locarno International Film Festival in 2006 she received the Best Actor Award for her role in the film Stephanie Daley.
