Biography of Kate Walsh

Kathleen Erin Walsh was born in San José, California, on October 13, 1967. She is an American actress and model.

She was born in San José (California) and grew up in Tucson (Arizona). Born to an Irish father (who died when Kate was 22) and a mother of Italian descent, she studied at the University of Arizona, where she became involved in regional theater.

In her early years, she modeled in Japan during the 1980s. Later, she moved to Chicago and began working at the Piven Theater Workshop. She acted in the National Public Radio radio production Born Guilty. Later, she moved to New York and joined the Burn Manhattan theater group on June 27, 1987, and worked in several off-Broadway plays.

After playing Cathy Buxton during an episode of the American series Homicide: Life on the Street, her first major appearance on television was in 1997, when she appeared on the series The Drew Carey Show as Nicki.

Following this role, she went on to play Carol Nelson on the HBO television series The Mind of the Married Man and she also played Norm MacDonald's sexual interest on the sitcom The Norm Show. One of her last roles, before appearing on the hit series Grey's Anatomy, was on the series Karen Sisco as Detective Marley Novak in 2003 and 2004.

After the last season of her Private Practice, Kate was filming her new series (Bad Judge) in which she plays Judge Rebecca Wright in her apocalyptic day-to-day.

On March 31, 2017, 13 Reasons Why was released; a Netflix original television series in which Kate plays Olivia Baker, the mother of a teenager who decided to commit suicide. In 2019, she appeared in The Umbrella Academy (TV series) in which Kate plays a woman who is involved in wanting to destroy the world.

Walsh has also appeared in several films with Ferrell, including Bewitched and in alternative films such as Anchorman, Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie.

She made a cameo appearance in the movie Family Guy with Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni and also in the movie After the Sunset with Pierce Brosman and Salma Hayek.

In 2003 Walsh appeared in Under the Tuscan Sun with Diane Lane and Sandra Oh. She who played the girlfriend of Patrick Dempsey's character (Co-star of Grey's Anatomy). She appears in the film Legion, in the role of Sandra Anderson.

On September 21, 2012, the film The Perks of Being a Wallflower was released, in which she plays the character of the protagonist's mother.
