Biography of Rita Ora
Rita Sahatçiu Ora was born on November 26, 1990 in the city of Pristina when it belonged to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, today Kosovo. Although, his family quickly moved to East London, United Kingdom, to seek better life opportunities. He lived his entire childhood and adolescence on Portobello Road and studied at St Matthias CE Primary School, later graduating from Sylvia Young Theater School. She made her acting debut in 2004 when she starred in the movie Spivs.
From a young age, Rita showed interest and talent in music and acting. On a trip to the United States, the artist caught the attention of rapper Jay-Z, who made her sign a contract with her label Roc Nation in 2008.
The artist formally debuted in music in late 2011, and quickly became a hit scoring three UK number 1 singles in less than a year with her tracks "Hot Right Now", "R.I.P." and "How We Do (Party)".
In August 2012, she released her debut album ORA, which debuted at number one in the UK and was certified platinum. She subsequently released her track "I Will Never Let You Down", which became her fourth number 1 in the UK, as well as "Poison", which also entered the top ten.
After a series of disputes with Roc Nation, which caused the delay of her second album, Rita left the label in May 2016 and signed with Atlantic Records. In 2017, she released her singles "Your Song", "Anywhere", and "Let You Love Me", which became hits around the world and featured on her second album Phoenix, released in November 2018.
In addition to music, Rita has had a notable involvement in television, having been a judge and host on The Voice UK, The X Factor, America's Next Top Model and The Masked Singer UK. Also, in the cinema, he had brief appearances in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019), in addition to being part of the cast of Fifty Shades of Gray (2015) and its two sequels released in 2017 and 2018.
In general, Rita's music primarily touches on the pop, R&B, and soul genres. She has on more than one occasion cited singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani as her main musical influence. Although, she also refers to Beyoncé as one of her biggest inspirations because of the great support she has given her. Her voice type is mezzo-soprano.
