Biography of Kristin Kreuk

Kristin Laura Kreuk was born on December 30, 1982. She is a Canadian actress and model.

Kreuk's parents are landscape architects. Her father Peter Kreuk is of Dutch descent, her mother Deanna Che is from Indonesia but originally comes from China. Her maternal grandmother is Jamaican-Chinese. Kreuk has a younger sister named Justine who was born in 1986.

In 2000 and asked for an exotic looking girl to play Laurel Yeung in the youth soap opera Edgemont. Kreuk, who had no acting experience, was suggested by her theater teacher for the role. To her own surprise, she was chosen.

After Edgemont's first season wrapped and she already had her own agent, Kreuk landed the lead role as Snow White in the TV movie Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. The film, which also stars Miranda Richardson, was shot in Vancouver and premiered on ABC on March 17, 2002.

After Snow White, Kreuk's agent sent a promotional video to screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who were recruiting for their new series Smallville, which they were producing for The WB. The series was to be filmed in Vancouver and was about the youth of Clark Kent, aka Superman.

In 2003 she got her first film role, a short appearance in the film Eurotrip, in which Scott Mechlowicz and Michelle Trachtenberg starred. The film was shot in Prague and premiered on February 20, 2004. In the summer of 2004, Kreuk took part in the casting of the SciFi Channel for the seriesEarthsea with Shawn Ashmore and Danny Glover.

In April 2005, Kreuk was in front of the camera for the filming of Partition. In 2009, Kreuk took on the lead role in the film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, based on the computer game series of the same name. The film was released in US theaters in February 2009.

From 2012 to 2016, Kreuk played Catherine Chandler on the US series Beauty & the Beast, for which she won a People's Choice Award for Best Female Lead in a Sci-Fi Series in 2013.

Kreuk is in a relationship with actor Mark Hildreth. They are looked after by the same manager. They became close and eventually became a couple while filming the TV series Earthsea, in which they both star.

Additionally, Kreuk is a pescetarian, as featured on Live! with Kelly and Michael in October 2012.
