Biography of Evangeline Lilly
Nicole Evangeline Lilly was born on August 3, 1979 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. She is a Canadian actress and author.
Lilly was discovered in Kelowna (British Columbia) by the model agency Ford. Although she first decided on a modeling career, she only signed the contract with Ford to finance her studies at the University of British Columbia. At the age of 18, she lived briefly in the Philippines with a Protestant group to provide humanitarian aid there. Furthermore, Lilly is still committed to American environmental protection and sometimes works together with the nature conservation organization Sierra Club.
From 2004 to 2010 she played the role of Kate Austen in the US television series Lost and was voted the sexiest woman on US television by the readers of the US magazine TV Guide in March 2007. In 2011, director Peter Jackson announced that Lilly would play Tauriel in the film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's book The Hobbit. That same year she starred alongside Hugh Jackman in Real Steel. In 2015, she took on the role of Hope van Dyne / Wasp in Marvel's comic book adaptation Ant-Man. She also portrayed the same role in the 2018 sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp and in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
In 2008, Lilly signed a modeling deal with Davidoff Cool Water. In 2014, Lilly published her first children's book, The Squickerwonkers, which has so far been published in English, Portuguese and German.
Lilly was married to Canadian ice hockey player Murray Hone from 2001 to 2003. Between 2004 and 2009 she was with fellow British actor Dominic Monaghan. She is in a relationship with Norman Kali, who worked on the set of Lost. In May 2011, Lilly gave birth to her first child, a son. In October 2015, Lilly gave birth to her second child. She currently resides in Hawaii.
