Biography of Sofía Vergara

Sofía Vergara was born on July 10, 1972 in Barranquilla, Colombia.

She is the daughter of Margarita Vergara Dávila, a housewife, and Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, a rancher.

She was called "Toti" by her five brothers and sisters. She was raised Catholic.

Sofía Vergara was discovered by a talent scout on a beach in the Colombian Caribbean. She made a commercial for Pepsi that was very successful in Colombia and helped her become an advertising and catwalk model.

She gained recognition by being one of the presenters of the International Song Festival of Viña del Mar, in Chile.

She got her start in the English-language media participating as a presenter at the American Comedy Awards for the Fox network, where she met director Barry Sonnenfeld, who offered her the role of Nina in the movie Big Trouble.

She subsequently worked on such films as Chasing Papi, Soul Plane, The 24th Day, Lords of Dogtown, Grilled with Ray Romano, Pledge This, and Four Brothers.

In September 2005, she participated in the ABC comedy "Hot Properties" and in the series "The Knights of Prosperity".

Sofía Vergara triumphed worldwide with the series "Modern Family" broadcast by the ABC television network, playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, a Colombian married to a rich American.

Thanks to his television work, he won Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and roles in films such as The Smurfs, Happy Feet 2 or New Year's Eve, in which he shares the bill with Ashton Kutcher, Robert DeNiro and Zac Efron.

As a model, she did campaigns for Miller Light, McDonalds and Colgate>, among other companies. She has her own clothing line called Vergara by Sofía.

On May 7, 2015, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She had her son Manolo at nineteen with her high school boyfriend, Joe Gonzalez, and divorced at twenty.

She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000 from which she fully recovered, although she must take medication to prevent hypothyroidism.

In 2003, she dated singer Craig David for a few months, and also actor Tom Cruise after meeting at a party hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith in 2005.

On July 10, 2012, her engagement to Nick Loeb was reported, and on May 23, 2014, she announced her breakup. On May 1, 2015, the dispute regarding the future of the two embryos she had frozen while together was made public.

In July 2014, it was reported that Vergara began dating actor and producer Joe Manganiello. The couple got engaged on Christmas 2014, after six months of dating. On Sunday, November 22, 2015, Sofia, 43, and Joe, 38, got married.
