Biography of Felicity Jones

Felicity Rose Hadley Jones was born on October 17, 1983 in Birmingham. She is a British actress.

Felicity Jones grew up in Bournville, Birmingham. Her father was a journalist, her mother worked in advertising. Her parents separated when Jones was three years old. She and her brother grew up with their mother. She later attended Kings Norton Girls School in Birmingham. She then did her A levels at King Edward VI Handsworth School. After a year's hiatus, she began studying English at Wadham College, Oxford. During her studies she appeared in various plays, often taking on the leading role.

Following roles in British television series, Jones' international breakthrough came with her leading role in 2011's US drama Like Crazy, for which she received the Hollywood Film Awards Newcomer Award and the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The New York Film Critics Circle and National Board of Review Young Actor Awards followed.

Jones was nominated for a 2015 Academy Award for Best Actress for portraying Stephen Hawking's first wife, Jane Hawking, in The Theory of Eveything.

In 2016, she played the female lead in the novel adaptation Inferno alongside Tom Hanks. She also starred as rebel Jyn Erso in the Star Wars spin-off film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Jones has been married to British filmmaker Charles Guard since 2018. Their son was born in April 2020.
