Claudia Schiffer was born on August 25, 1970 in Rheinberg, Dusseldorf.
She is the daughter of Gudrun and Heinz Schiffer, a lawyer. She has two brothers, Stefan and Andreas, and a sister, Ann Carolin.
She was studying law when she was discovered while dancing in a nightclub in her city in October 1987, by Michel Levanton.
Producer Nicholas Rachline made a film about her life.
Her first appearances were with Karl Lagerfeld, parading for Chanel, because of her beauty and professionalism on the catwalk, she became one of the five most sought-after models in the world.
She signed a contract with Revlon for more than six million dollars, which required that she not pose nude.
She appeared on over 1,000 magazine covers and went on to campaign globally for fashion, luxury goods and fragrances.
In 2002, Forbes estimated her fortune at around $55 million.
She speaks several languages. She owns the restaurant chain, Fashion Café, alongside Naomi Campbell and Elle.
She was associated with celebrities such as Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, Prince Albert of Monaco, and singer Peter Gabriel. She was also the girlfriend of American magician David Copperfield.
On May 25, 2002, she married Briton Matthew Vaughn in a small country church in Suffolk, eastern England.
On January 30, 2003, she gave birth to her first child, Caspar, after being admitted to a London hospital to undergo a caesarean section. She later had Clementine, born November 11, 2004, and Cosima Violet, born May 14, 2010.
