Biography of Helen Hunt

Helen Hunt was born on June 15, 1963 in Culver City, California.

She is the daughter of director and drama teacher Gordon Hunt, and Jane Elizabeth Novis, a photographer.

Her uncle, Peter H. Hunt, was also a director. Her paternal grandmother was from a German Jewish family, while her other grandparents have English and Methodist ancestry (her maternal grandfather was born in England).

When she was three years old, her family moved to New York City, where her father directed theater.

She studied ballet in New York and settled in Los Angeles in 1972; she briefly attended UCLA.

Her debut as an actress was her at the age of eight in a television series called Ark II. After graduating from high school, he continued to appear on television shows such as The Bionic Woman, Knots Landing, Family Ties, The Facts of Life, andGimme A Break.

She made her film debut in 1977 with Roller Coaster, and made her first appearance on Broadway in 1989.

She appeared as the daughter of Nicholas Cage and Kathleen Turner in the movie Peegy Sue Got Married. In the summer of 1996 she filmed Twister and the following year she appeared as Jack Nicholson's co-star in the movie As Good As It Gets, for which she won the Oscar for Best Leading Actress.

She made her directorial and screenwriting debut in 2008 with her Then She Found Me.

In 2017, she shot Louis C.K.'s I Love You, Daddy. and a year later she appeared in it, Ben Shelton's Candy Jar and Sean McNamara's The Miracle Season.

In 2019, she appeared in the BBC series World on Fire playing journalist Nancy Campbell and, in 2020, she starred in The Night Clerk.

She was related to actors Matthew Broderick and Eric Stoltz. On April 20, 1999, she married actor Hank Azaria. She was divorced the following year. She has been associated with producer, writer and director Matthew Carnahan since 2001. They have two sons Makena Lei Gordon and Emmett. They broke up in 2017.
