Biography of Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa was born on August 22, 1995. She is a British singer and songwriter.

Dua Lipa's father Dukagjin is Kosovar Albanian, her mother Anesa is of Bosnian Albanian descent. When the war in Bosnia began in 1992 and the situation also worsened in Kosovo, the parents fled to London, where Lipa was born in 1995. Her grandmother came up with the idea of ​​naming her Dua, which means love in Albanian. Lipa attended the renowned Sylvia Young Theater School. She had to interrupt her education there for a while because her parents went back to Kosovo for professional reasons in 2008, before she returned to London alone at the age of 15. She initially worked in clubs and as a model.

She eventually got in touch with Marlon Roudette, who encouraged her to record demos, which she released on SoundCloud starting in 2012. She caught the attention of Lana Del Rey executives and landed her a record deal with Universal Music. This enabled her to work with several American producers such as Emile Haynie and Rodney Jerkins for her debut album. Her first single New Love was released in summer 2015.
