Biography of Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde was born on March 10, 1984 in New York City. She is an American-Irish actress, director and film producer.

Wilde is the daughter of journalist Andrew Cockburn and producer Leslie Cockburn. After attending Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, she studied acting at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. Many of her relatives such as her grandfather Francis Claud Cockburn, her father and her two paternal uncles Alexander and Patrick Cockburn are journalists. She chose her stage name based on Oscar Wilde, whom she admired.

Wilde had her first success as Kellie in the teen comedy The Girl Next Door. She then landed a starring role as Jewel Goldman in the television series Skin, which was canceled in 2003 after just three episodes.

Her breakthrough role was Alex Kelly in the second season of the The O.C. series. In 2007, Wilde co-starred as Jenny Reilly in the 13-episode series The Black Donnellys. Beginning in 2007, she was introduced to a larger audience as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley in the hit series House known. In 2010, she had a role as Quorra in the film Tron: Legacy.

In 2019, she made her feature film directorial debut with Booksmart. In late June 2020, Wilde became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In addition to her acting career, Wilde is a member of the Los Angeles Filmmakers Cooperative (LAFCO). Among other things, she is senior editor of LAFCO NEWS and was project manager of the LAFCO production for Project Lysistrata, the first global theater event for peace, which took place in hundreds of cities around the world.

In 2008, Wilde supported Barack Obama's presidential candidacy with fellow actor Kal Penn. Wilde is a vegan and was voted the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity in a PETA-sponsored poll in 2010.

From 2003 to 2011, Wilde was married to the Italian filmmaker and photographer Tao Ruspoli, who was ten years her senior and whom she met when she was 18. Wilde had been engaged to actor Jason Sudeikis since early 2013, with whom she had been in a relationship since late 2011. In April 2014 her son was born, in October 2016 a daughter. In November 2020, Wilde and Sudeikis announced their separation. Wilde has been in a relationship with British singer Harry Styles since January 2021.
