Biography of Shania Twain

Shania Twain was born on August 28, 1965 in Windsor, Ontario. She is a Canadian singer and songwriter, best known as a crossover artist in country music and pop music.

Shania Twain was born to Clarence Edwards in Windsor, Ontario. The surname Twain comes from her stepfather, Jerry Twain. She grew up in the Canadian town of Timmins, where a street was named after her and there was a Shania Twain Museum, which has since been closed.

Her first album Shania Twain was released in 1993 and sold more than a million copies in the US. From her 1995 album The Woman in Me she sold more than twelve million copies there; it became the most successful country album of all time up to that point. In 1997 the album Come On Over was released and became an even bigger success.

The subsequent album Up! appeared in 2002 in three versions. The album has since gone eleven times platinum.

In the fall of 2004, Shania Twain's Greatest Hits album, which was also successful, also contained three new titles. In June 2011, Twain was honored with a star in the Recorded Music category (6270 Hollywood Boulevard) on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

After a planned new album was repeatedly postponed, among other things due to the upbringing of her son and a protracted loss of voice due to Lyme disease diagnosed in 2003, Twain released her fifth studio album in 15 years in September 2017, entitled Now. It debuted at number one on the US charts a week later.

In 2020, she starred in the film I Still Believe. The year before she had landed a role in Trading Paint. In 2022 she was a surprise guest at the Coachella festival and sang two songs in a duet with Harry Styles.

Until 2008, Twain lived with her husband, the music producerRobert John"Mutt" Lange, and their son, who was born in 2001, in La Tour-de-Peilz on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The marriage, concluded in 1993, ended in divorce in June 2010. In January 2011, TwainmarriedSwiss Nestlé manager Frédéric Thiébaud in Puerto Rico.
