Biography of Cat Deeley

Catherine Elizabeth "Cat" Deeley was born on October 23, 1976 in West Bromwich. She is an English television presenter, actress, singer and model.

From 1998 to 2002 she presented children's program SMTV Live and its spin-off chart show CD:UK. In 2001 she won a children's BAFTA. She also hosted the Fame Academy on the BBC and the Brit Awards in 2004. Since 2006, Deeley has hosted the American dance show So You Think You Can Dance, for which she was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program .

Since 2003 she has been the patron of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, which provides medical care for sick children. In December 2009 she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Deeley was born in West Bromwich, grew up in Sutton Coldfield and Great Barr. She attended Grove Vale Junior School followed by Dartmouth High School in Great Barr where she played the clarinet in the Sandwell Youth Concert Band. She then went to sixth form at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield.

At 14 she entered a regional event in a BBC competition for The Clothes Show, where she reached the national final. At 16, she was spotted by an agent from Storm Model Management, and quickly booked as a model under her nickname, Cat, which was more recognizable to clients.

For a while, Deeley was a full-time model. When her contract with Storm changed in 1997, she left that job behind. After that she moved to MTV, where she presented the chart show Hitlist UK together with Edith Bowman. From 1998 to 2002 she co-hosted the children's Saturday morning program SMTV Live with the duo Ant & Dec, and also hosted the spin-off programs CD:UK (1998-2005) and CD:UK Hotshots. On SMTV Live, she often mimed the somewhat reluctant assistant whenever a magician performed on the show.

In 2001 she won a British Academy Children's Award. In 2002, she starred in a television commercial for Marks & Spencer.

Since 2011, Deeley has appeared in episode roles in various television series. In Deadbeat she embodied the supporting role of Camomile.

In 2003 Deeley became a patron of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital. She is also an active supporter of UNICEF. In 2008 she visited some of UNICEF's projects in the Philippines, including their Soccer Aid 2 project in Manila. In December 2009 she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Between 2001 and 2006 she met with businessman Mark Whelan. She had a two-year relationship with Jack Huston. In 2011, she dated Michael McMillian for four months.

In early 2012, Patrick Kielty announced that he and Deeley were in a relationship. They married in Rome on September 30, 2012. On January 19, 2016, Deeley gave birth to a son.
