Biography of Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar was born on April 14, 1977 in New York. She is an American actress.

The daughter of Jewish parents grew up as an only child with her mother Rosellen Gellar (née Greenfield) after her parents divorced in 1984; her father Arthur Gellar left the family.

She became known through the series All My Children (1993-1995), which also brought her the leading role in the series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer in 1997. She played the role of Buffy Summers until the end of the series in 2003 and received numerous television awards during this time.

Her first big screen role was in the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer with her future husband Freddie Prinze Jr. She also starred in Scream 2 that same year. In 1999 she starred in the drama Cruel Intentions alongside Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. The film was an international success and Gellar won two MTV Movie Awards. In addition to Buffy, she also appeared in other television series in guest roles, including Sex and the City (2000) and the Buffy spin-off Angel - Same role of Buffy (1999-2000).

In 2002 she starred in the hit movie Scooby-Doo and in 2004 also in the sequel Scooby Doo 2. That year she starred in the horror film The Grudge and stayed true to that genre with 2006's The Return.

In the late 2000s, Gellar was mostly in independent films. She received critical acclaim for her performances in the films The Air I Breathe (2007) and Veronica Decides to Die (2010). However, she was not able to build on earlier cinema successes.

In the spring of 2011, production of the Ringer series began, in which Gellar took on a dual role.The series aired on The CW from September 2011 to May 2012.

From 2013 to 2014, Gellar starred opposite Robin Williams in the CBS-aired sitcom The Crazy Ones as Sydney Roberts.

Since 2015, she has spoken for some episodes of the character of the Seventh Sister in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, in which her husband Freddie Prinze junior also spoke a character, the Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus.

Gellar has been dating actor Freddie Prinze jr since September 1, 2002,married and lives with him in Los Angeles. She officially changed her surname to Prinze as a present for her husband on their fifth wedding anniversary (September 1, 2007). The two have had a daughter since September 19, 2009, and their son was born in September 2012.

During her career, she was frequently on the covers of international magazines. She was named "Woman of the Year 2008" by the US men's magazine Maxim.

She co-produced spoofs for The Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man and Panic Room with Jack Black for the 2002 MTV Movie Awards.

In the game Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) she appears with the Escalation DLC as a playable character in Survival mode.

She played the role of Cinderella in the YouTube video Cinderella vs. Belle: Princess Rap Battle (2015).
