Biography of Courteney Cox
Courteney Cox was born on June 15, 1964 in Mountain Brook, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama (United States).
She is the daughter of businessman Richard Lewis Cox and his wife Courteney Bass. She had two older sisters, Virginia and Dottie, and an older brother, Richard, Jr. Her parents divorced in 1974 and her mother remarried businessman Hunter Copeland.
She studied while in the afternoons she worked in a warehouse; After graduating from Mountain Brook High School, she entered Mount Vernon College in Washington DC, although she did not complete her studies in architecture, opting instead to pursue modeling and acting.
She worked as a model, did commercials for Noxema and Marbelline, and landed a small role on As the World Turns.
In 1984 she appears in the video clip Dancing in the Dark, by Bruce Springsteen. In 1985 she works on an NBC series, Misfits of Science. The same year she played the role of Laureu, the girlfriend of Michael J. Fox in the series Family Ties.
She followed up with a few movie appearances, but it wasn't until 1994 that she got her chance with the role of Jim Carrey's boss in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. In 2011, after appearing in the previous three, she acts in Scream 4.
Some time later she definitively jumped to fame after playing the role of Monica Geller in the television series Friends.
She was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actress for the television series Cougar Town in 2010.
She dated rock promoter Ian Copeland, actor Michael Keaton from 1989 to 1995, and Adam Duritz of Counting Crows.
She married actor David Arquette on June 12, 1999. She had her daughter, Coco Riley Arquette, on June 13, 2004, and suffered from postpartum depression. Her former Friends partner, Jennifer Aniston, was her godmother. On October 11, 2010, the couple's separation was announced, divorcing in May 2013.
She began dating Snow Patrol member Johnny McDaid in late 2013. The couple announced their engagement on Twitter on June 26, 2014. Shortly after, they called off the engagement, although they remained a couple.
