Biography of Beyoncé
Beyoncé was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas.
Beyoncé's name is an homage to her mother's maiden name.
She is the daughter of Celestine Ann Beyincé, owner of a hair and beauty salon, and Mathew Knowles, music producer and manager, formerly a Xerox sales manager. She has a sister named Solange, and is of African, Irish, and French descent.
When she was only eight years old, she tried to form a children's group.
She attended St. Mary's Elementary School in Fredericksburg, Texas, where she enrolled in dance classes. She studied at the High School for Performing and Visual Arts, in Houston, where she showcased her musical talent.
She sang in the choir at St. John's United Methodist Church. She entered and won a music show where she performed John Lennon's song Imagine. Beyoncé's father, seeing that her daughter wanted to dedicate herself to the world of music, began looking for a music label.
Her career began in the late 1990s as the lead vocalist for the group Destiny's Child, alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Her father became the group's manager.
With the song Killing Time they achieved their first success by appearing on the Men in Black soundtrack. Many of the group's hits, which have sold more than 60 million records worldwide, were co-written and co-produced by Beyoncé. She made her film debut with the movie Beverly Hood in 1999.
In 2002, she began a relationship with rapper Jay-Z, with whom she collaborated on several occasions.
In 2003 Beyonce Knowles' career took a turn when the group broke up and released her first solo album called 'Dangerously in love'.
During 2006 she released her second solo album titled B'Day. This album includes new songs co-written and produced by her. The first single was Deja Vu, on which Jay-Z collaborated. The album stayed on the charts for around two years, becoming one of the best-selling albums of 2006 and 2007.
On November 18, 2008, his third solo work, I Am... Sasha Fierce, appeared, which was number one in the United States with 482,428 copies sold and was placed at number one.
In January 2010, at the 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony, Beyoncé won six of the ten awards for which she had been nominated. She became the woman who won the most Grammy Awards in one night and with the most nominations in the history of the award.
In June 2011, she released her fourth studio album, 4 , which sold 310,000 copies in its first week alone and reached the top of the Billboard 200.
In January 2013, Love Songs appeared, a compilation album of hers with her most romantic songs from her previous albums with a new theme, Nuclear.
On December 13, 2013, Beyoncéreleased her self-titled fifth studio album, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, earning her fifth consecutive number-one album in the United States and becoming the first woman in history to have their first five studio albums as number ones.
In April 2014, Beyoncé and Jay-Z announced their On the Run Tour, their first tour together. At the 57th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2015, she was nominated for six awards, eventually winning three: Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song for Drunk in Love, and Best Sound Album.
In 2016, Lemonade was presented, a new studio work that again debuts at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. During the 59th Grammy Awards in February 2017, Lemonade received nine nominations, ultimately winning two, Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video by Lineup.
On April 17, 2019, she released Homecoming: The Live Album, recorded in April 2018 at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. The same day, Homecoming, a film about the concert, written, directed and produced by the artist, premiered on Netflix.
In the cinema, Beyonce participated in films such as Austin Powers in Gold Member (2002), Fighting Tentations (2003), The Pink Panther, and Dreamgirls (2006), Cadillac (2008) and Obsessed (2009).
She is listed among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013 and 2014 by Time magazine.
On April 4, 2008, Beyoncé married rapper Jay-Z in New York.
On January 8, 2012, Beyoncé gave birth to her daughter Ivy Blue Carter by cesarean section at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, where she had reserved an entire floor for which they paid more than a million dollars. The rapper, Jay-Z and his wife, wanting to keep the news a secret, demanded that all hospital staff dispense with their phones and cameras throughout the couple's stay.
In June 2017, Beyoncé gave birth to a boy and a girl.
