Alyssa Jayne Milano was born on December 19, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York City. She is an American actress, producer, fashion designer, singer and activist.

Alyssa Milano has Italian ancestors. Her mother, Lin, is a fashion designer, and her father, Tom, works on film music. Her brother Cory was born in 1982. Milano grew up in the New York borough of Staten Island.

Alyssa Milano began her career at the age of seven after being selected from 1,500 competitors in an audition. For a year she played the title role in the musical Annie on a US tour and then took part in an US musical adaptation of the novel Jane Eyre at the Theater Opera Music Institute in New York. First TV roles and commercials followed.

In 1983 she had her breakthrough role as Samantha in Who's the Boss?. The family relocated to Los Angeles, near the filming location. The series ran very successfully from 1984 to 1992. From 1997 to 1998 she played the role of Jennifer Mancini in Melrose Place.

From 1998 to 2006 she played the role of Phoebe Halliwell in the hit series Charmed - together with her sisters Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Prue (Shannen Doherty), Paige (Rose McGowan) and friend Billie (Kaley Cuoco) fight against supernatural evil. She replaced Lori Rom, who played Phoebe in the pilot.

In early 2007, she starred in the ABC drama series Reinventing the Wheelers. The independent film The Blue Hour premiered at the 2007 San Sebastian Film Festival, as did the horror film Pathology in US theaters that same year.

From June 2013 to September 2014, she starred as Savannah "Savi" Davis on the ABC summer series Mistresses.

Alyssa Milano released five music albums between 1989 and 1992, which went platinum in Japan and South Korea.

In 2003 she became an official "Celebrity Ambassador" for UNICEF, in 2007 also for the "Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases". Alyssa Milano is a vegetarian and supports the animal rights organization PETA and the marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd. In 2007, she posed in a lettuce and vegetable dress as part of PETA's Let Vegetarianism Grow on You campaign. Along with Eva Longoria, Alyssa Milano advocates tougher penalties for animal abuse. Milano co-edited two children's books with author Debbie Rigaud to "inspire a generation of benefactors."

On October 15, 2017, Milano responded to the Weinstein scandal by tweeting the scale and pervasiveness of the problem.

In the 1990s, Milano was engaged to actor Scott Wolf. From January to November 1999, Alyssa Milano was married to Cinjun Tate, lead singer of the band Remy Zero. She has been married to David Bugliari since August 15, 2009. The two have two children together: a son (* 2011) and a daughter (* 2014).
