Anna Faris
Biography of Anna Faris
Anna Kay Faris was born on November 29, 1976 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is an American actress, film producer, voice actress and singer.
Anna Faris grew up in Edmonds, Washington, north of Seattle. Her parents, Karen and Jack Faris, encouraged her to pursue acting from a young age. Faris made her acting debut at the Seattle Repertory Theater when she was nine. After graduating from Edmonds Woodway High School, she studied English at the University of Washington.
She first gained fame as an actor through television series; for example, she was seen in a supporting role in the Friends series.
After making her film debut in Lovers Lane (1999), Faris moved to Los Angeles. She starred in the horror satirical Scary Movie (2000) and its sequels Scary Movie 2 (2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003) and Scary Movie 4 (2006), and for this role she received two awards for the MTV Movie Awards nominated. After portraying a gullible movie star in Lost in Translation (2003), she managed to show a serious side in Brokeback Mountain (2005).
In the movies Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 (2009) and Alvin and the Chipmunks 3: Broken Chip (2011) Faris spoke Jeanette in the original English language versions. She also lent her voice to the female protagonist of the animated films Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013), Sam Sparks. In 2010 and 2011, Faris starred in the comedies Take Me Home Tonight, The Perfect Ex and Yogi Bear; however, these were not a great commercial success. In 2012 she starred in the film The Dictator.
Faris is best known for her guest role as Erica on the final season of Friends. Guest appearances on Entourage and Saturday Night Live followed, in which she portrayed herself. Since 2013, Anna Faris has played one of the main roles in the television series Mom. On September 4, 2020, it was announced that Faris would be leaving the television series Mom after seven years to pursue new opportunities.
In 2004, Faris married fellow actor Ben Indra, whom she met on the set of Lovers Lane in 1999. On April 3, 2007, she filed for divorce. From 2009 to 2017 she was married to fellow actor Chris Pratt. Their son also came from this marriage. Since September 2017, Faris has been in a relationship with cinematographer Michael Barrett, whom she met while filming Overboard.
In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars annually.
