Stana Katić was born on April 26, 1978 in Hamilton, Ontario. She is a Canadian-American actress.

Stana Katić was born in Ontario to Croatian (Dalmatian) immigrants and shortly thereafter moved to Illinois with her family. In 1996 she graduated from West Aurora High School and went on to study at The Theater School at DePaul University in Chicago. Katić married her longtime partner Kris Brkljač on April 25, 2015 in Croatia.

Katić played in various film and television series, mainly in the USA, such as The Shield, The Closer, CSI: Miami, JAG, ER and 24. From 2009 to 2016 she starred as Detective Kate Beckett in the crime series Castle. In the eighth season she was also active there as a television producer.

In 2011, Katić lent her voice to the comic book character Talia al Ghul in the original English version of the video game Batman: Arkham City.

On June 16, 2017, Stana Katić's new series Absentia was broadcast at the Festival de Télévision in Monaco to kick off the festival. In this series, she plays Emily Byrne, an FBI agent who has been missing for six years and reappears with no memories. Stana Katić is not only a leading actress but also an executive producer of the series produced by Sony Pictures Televisions Networks AXN.
