Priyanka Chopra Jonas (since her 2018 marriage to Nick Jonas), is an Indian actress, singer, producer, philanthropist, writer and model, born on July 18, 1982 in Jamshedpur. She is Miss World 2000.

She is the daughter of Ashok and Madhu Chopra, both military doctors and respectively of Punjabi and Bihari origin and of Hindu faith. According to the assignments of her parents, she attended many schools including theLa Martinière schoolin Lucknow and American high schools. She has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years her junior. Bollywood actresses Parineeti Chopra, Meera Chopra and Mannara Chopra are cousins.

Due to his parents' profession as military doctors, the family was posted to a number of locations in India including Delhi, Chandigarh, Ambala, Ladakh, Lucknow, Bareli and Pune.

At 13, she moved to the United States to study, living with her aunt and attending schools in Newton, Massachusetts, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after stopping in Queens in New York because her aunt's family also moved frequently. After three years, she returned to India, finishing the main year of her high school education at thePublic Army Schoolin Bareli.

She began graduate studies in aeronautical engineering atJai Hind Universityin Mumbai but quickly abandoned them to enter beauty contests.
