Yami Gautam was born in Bilaspur on November 2–8, 1988. She is an Indian film actress and model who mainly appears in Bollywood films. She has also appeared in a few Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam and Tamil films.

Yami Gautam was born into a Hindu family in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh and grew up in Chandigarh. His father Mukesh Gautam is a Punjabi film director. His mother is Anjali Gautam. Yami has a younger sister Surilie Gautam, who made her big screen debut in the Punjabi film Power Cut.

From a very young age she yearned to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), but at the age of 20, Yami decided to start her acting career performance. Recently, she has taken up her bachelor's degree in Bombay part time. Yami likes reading, interior decorating and listening to music.

In 2012, Gautam made her Hindi film debut in the comedy Vicky Donor, which was a critical and commercial success, the crime film Badlapur (2015), a blind woman in the thriller Kaabil (2017), and an intelligence officer in the action thriller Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).
