Biography of Sylvie Meis

Sylvie Françoise Meis was born on April 13, 1978 in Breda, formerly known as Sylvie van der Vaart, is a Germany-based Dutch presenter and model.

Her mother Rita Meis is Belgian, her father Ron is of Dutch-Indonesian descent. She has a brother named Daniel. She completed a four-year course in human resources management at the West Brabant University of Applied Sciences. She then worked as a photo model.

Meis' television career began in 2003 when she took part in a moderator casting of the television station TMF. She then presented the show Fox Kids. In the beach soap Costa! she played a barmaid for two years. She has also appeared as a presenter at the annual TMF Awards and has interviewed international artists such as Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears. She also appeared in video clips and created her own jewelry collection Pure by Sylvie, which was also launched on the German market in 2006.

In the years 2008 to 2011 and 2018, Meis sat next to Dieter Bohlen, Bruce Darnell and Motsi Mabuse on the jury of the RTL talent show Das Supertalent.

Meis worked as an advertising medium for BMW, Gillette and L'Oréal Professional, among others. In 2010, she took part in the third season of Let's Dance and took second place. Her dance partner was Christian Bärens, who was later replaced by Christian Polanc due to an injury. From the fourth season in 2011 to the tenth season in 2017, she hosted the show herself – alongside Daniel Hartwich. Both received the Bavarian Television Prize in 2012. Since 2012 she has been presenting lingerie and bikinis, some of which she designed herself, for The Sylvie Collection by Hunkemöller.

In autumn 2015 she presented the RTL dance show Stepping Out with Hartwich. Together with the duo Nica & Joe, she appeared as a guest star on the holiday-on-ice show Believe in 15 German cities from November 2015 to February 2016. She was an "ambassador" and moderator at the Dreamball of the German Bone Marrow Donor Center and called for registration.

In the fall of 2017, she launched an underwear and swimwear line.

In June 2005, Meis married Dutch soccer player Rafael van der Vaart. In the summer of 2005, the couple moved to Hamburg, where he was under contract with Hamburger SV until 2008. Like her husband, she began to study German intensively. On May 28, 2006, they became parents to a son.

In June 2009, Meis announced that she had breast cancer. The tumor was surgically removed, after which she underwent supportive chemotherapy.

In January 2013, the van der Vaart couple announced their separation. After the divorce on December 4, 2013, she resumed her birth name Meis.

In April 2017, she announced her engagement to businessman Charbel Aouad; the couple separated in October of the same year. In April 2019 it became known that Meis had separated from Dutch film producer Bart Willemsen after a relationship of six months. In October of that year, after a three-month relationship with artist Niclas Castello, she announced her engagement. The wedding took place in Florence on September 19, 2020.

Meis lives in Hamburg. Their son Damian moved to his father in Denmark due to his burgeoning football career.
