Lindsay Lohan
Biography of Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Dee Lohan was born on July 2, 1986 in New York City. She is an American actress, pop singer, and model.
Lindsay Lohan is the first child of Dina, an analyst and manager, and Michael Lohan, a stockbroker. She grew up in New York with her siblings Michael, Aliana and Dakota.
In July 1998, Lohan made her big screen debut at the age of 12, playing twin sisters Hallie Parker and Annie James in The Parent Trap. The film was a huge hit, grossing $92 million worldwide. Lohan received favorable reviews for her performance.
In March 2000, a television movie, Life Size, starring Lohan, aired on Disney Channel. As of June 2002, Get a Clue ran on the same channel, where she also starred.
In July 2003, the movie Freaky Friday, another remake by the Walt Disney Company, premiered. It was Lohan's final breakthrough as an actress.
Two more movies starring Lohan followed in 2004: Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen in January, and Mean Girls in May, for which she again received critical acclaim.
Her debut album, Speak, followed on December 7, 2004, peaking at #4 on the Billboard 200 and going platinum (one million copies sold). However, her music has received little attention outside of the United States.
In July 2005, the feature film Herbie: Fully Loaded premiered, starring Lohan.
Her single Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father) was released in November 2005, followed a month later by her second album A Little More Personal (Raw).
In May 2006, Lohan landed her first starring role in a motion picture outside of the Disney franchise. However, Just My Luck was panned and a commercial flop. In 2007, she starred in the feature films Georgia Rule and I Know Who Killed Me. Both productions could not build on their success as Disney stars.
At the end of May 2008 the single Bossy was released as a pre-release. Her third album, titled Spirit in the Dark, was then due for release in the fall of 2008, but work on it was halted due to her personal issues.
In July 2009, the TV movie Labor Pains starring Lohan premiered on ABC Family. The film was a hit with ratings.
Lohan was featured in Playboy magazine's January/February 2012 issue with nude photos of her as Marilyn Monroe. Since the photos had previously been published on the Internet, the sale of the magazine was brought forward. According to Hugh Hefner, the magazine broke sales hits.
In 2012, she directed the TV movie Liz & Dick, a film adaptation of the life of Elizabeth Taylor, starring Lohan as Liz.
For the female lead in the 2013 released and mostly negatively reviewed erotic thriller The Canyons, Lohan received partly positive reviews.
In 2016, Lohan got engaged to Russian man Egor Tarabasov. They reportedly split up in mid-2017, with Lohan accusing Tarabasov of abuse and him accusing her of stealing £24,000 worth of his belongings.
In late 2006, Lohan's alcohol and drug problems became public. She attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
