Biography of Alexz Johnson

Alexzandra Spencer Johnson was born on November 4, 1986 in New Westminster, British Columbia. She is a Canadian actress and singer.

She is the sixth of ten children in the Johnson family. One of her sisters is a theater actress and her brother Brendan is a musician and co-writes her songs.

Already at the age of three, Alexzandra often wanted to sing for her extended family. At the age of seven she took singing lessons and took part in various events with her youth choir, which was followed by solo performances at her school, for example. She has competed in many talent shows and won a Canadian national anthem contest in 1997 at the age of 11, where her rendition of the Canadian national anthem was featured on national television.

She went on to sing the national anthem at Vancouver Canucks (NHL hockey team) and Vancouver Grizzlies (NBA basketball team) games, as well as performing at charities and fairs in British Columbia, as well as with the B.C. Summer Games. She appeared on Planet Hollywood on New Year's Eve 1999 when she was 12 years old.

At the age of 13 she applied for a role in the Disney series So Weird, for the last season of which an actress who can also sing was wanted.

In 2006, Johnson decided to audition for the role of Julie Christensen in Final Destination 3.She also appeared in other films such as Devils Diary and Stranger with my Face while working on Instant Star.

On February 15, 2008, Johnson announced on her MySpace blog that she had signed a record deal with Epic Records, part of the Sony BMG group, and would be releasing her album in the fall. As of June 11, 2008, five songs have already been released on their MySpace page to be included on the forthcoming album.

After new recordings and her new record deal with Laydee Spencer Music Inc, she was finally able to release her album Voodoo on March 30, 2010.

She also released The Basement Recordings with her brother Brendan Johnson in August 2011. The Basement Recordings II followed in May 2012 and The Basement Recordings III in February 2013.

In February 2012, Alexz Johnson launched an appeal on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to raise money for a US tour. Within three days, she had already raised $50,000, whereas her goal had been $30,000 within 60 days. This enabled Johnson to embark on her Skipping Stone Tour of the United States and Canada in the summer of 2012. The tour name is based on the Skipping Stone released in April 2012. The tour was accompanied by documentary filmmaker and photographer Jessica Earnshaw. This regularly published photos of Johnson's live performances in a tour blog. In addition, the documentary The Skipping Stone Documentary was created, which was released in December 2012 together with a live album of the tour and a photo book.
