Biography of Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman was born on June 20, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii (United States) although from the age of four she grew up in Sydney (Australia) where her family comes from. She has dual nationality: Australian and American.

She studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Victoria, and at the Phillip Street Theatre, Sydney, with her friend, actress Naomi Watts, with whom she had also attended the same high school.

She met Tom Cruise during the filming of Days of Thunder and they were married on December 24, 1990 in a secret ceremony attended by the Scientology sect, to which they both belonged. Cruise divorced his then-wife Mimi Rogers. They adopted a boy and a girl, Antony and Isabella; they divorced in 2001.

Unlike many other actresses, Nicole shoots stunts in her movies, refusing to use a stunt double, even for the most dangerous stunts, demonstrating her acting skills in films like Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, Alejandro Amenábar's The Others, and even Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge.

In 2004 she works for Lars Von Trier in Dogville. In 2010 she premiered at the Toronto Festival Rabbit Hole.

She with Clive Owen she was the protagonist of an HBO production about Ernest Hemingway and his relationship with Martha Gellhorn; TV movie titled Hemingway & Gellhorn (2011).

She along with Nicolas Cage she was directed by Joel Schumacher in the action thriller Trespass, (2011). In August 2011, filming begins on the adaptation of Pete Dexter's novel, The Paperboy, which was released in 2012 and competed at the Cannes Film Festival.

In 2013, she starred in the biographical film, Grace of Monaco, which chronicles the 1962 crisis.

In addition, she acted in two films with Colin Firth, the first, the historical drama Railway man and the second, the British thriller Before I Go to Sleep. She also appeared in the film Paddington (2014).

In 2016, her performance in Lion received rave reviews, as well as being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and other awards. In October 2017, it was announced that she would be starring in the Karyn Kusama-directed film Destroyer.

In 2017, she returned to television with Big Little Lies, a drama series based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, which premiered on HBO. Additionally, she was a producer alongside her co-star, Reese Witherspoon. Kidman filmed a second season that was released in June 2019.

During 2020, Kidman played Grace Fraser in the HBO miniseries The Undoing. In 2021, Kidman starred in and executive produced the Hulu miniseries Nine Perfect Strangers.

On January 13, 2003, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She met her second husband, country singer Keith Urban, at G'Day during an event in January 2005. They were married on June 24, 2006 by candlelight at Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in Manly, outside of Sydney, Australia.

She gave birth to a girl in July 2008 at a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. On December 28, 2010, she had her second daughter gestated from her through a surrogacy and whom she named Faith Margaret.
