Sophie Belinda Jonas was born on February 21, 1996 in Northampton, Northamptonshire. She is an English actress.
Born in Northampton in central England, Sophie Turner grew up in Warwick, went to Kings High School there and also learned acting there at the Playbox Theater in her youth.
She made her screen debut playing Sansa Stark in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, based on the novels A Song of Ice and Fire by American author George R.R. Martin. For this role, she was nominated for Best Ensemble Actor in a Drama Series at the 2012, 2014 and 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards, respectively. In 2013, she starred in a dual role as Fay and Layla in the British-Spanish thriller Another Me. In 2015, she played a teenage agent opposite Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba and Samuel L. Jackson in the action comedy Barely Lethal. In January of that year, she was cast as the superheroine Jean Gray in the eighth installment of the X-Men film series, X-Men: Apocalypse.
She has been in a relationship with American actor and singer Joe Jonas since 2016. On October 15, 2017, the two announced their engagement. In May 2019, the wedding took place in Las Vegas, where she also took his last name. On July 22, 2020, the couple welcomed a daughter together, who was born in Los Angeles. Almost exactly two years later, the couple's second daughter was born.
