Biography of Alexis Bledel

Kimberly Alexis Bledel was born on September 16, 1981 in Houston, Texas. She is an American actress and model. She is best known for her role as Rory Gilmore on the television series Gilmore Girls.

Her father Martín is from Argentina and her mother Nanette is from Mexico. That's why she grew up with Spanish as her mother tongue. She only learned English in school. The family still speaks to each other in Spanish today.

She was very shy as a child, which is why her parents sent her to a theater group at the age of eight in the hope of boosting her self-confidence. Soon she had her first appearances in The Wizard of Oz and Aladdin. At the age of 14, Bledel began modeling for a few years after being spotted at a local mall.

From 1996 to 1999 she attended the private high school St. Agnes Academy in Houston and in 2000 began studying acting at New York University. In the same year she took part in the casting for the series Gilmore Girls and, despite the lack of television experience, got the role of Rory because the crew was enthusiastic about her naturalness and nature. So she dropped out of college after a year and moved from New York City to Los Angeles.

After her breakthrough, she acted in several films parallel to Gilmore Girls. In October 2002 she made her cinema debut with Tuck Everlasting. She also starred in the 2003 music video for Gainesville ska-punk band Less Than Jake's She's Gonna Break Soon. In 2004 she had a supporting role in the Bollywood film Bride and Prejudice.

In 2005, she starred in Sin City and took on one of the lead roles in the filmThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants; In 2008 she was in the sequel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Bledel also served as a producer for the short film Life is Short, in which she starred in 2006. In May 2009, Bledel started modeling again and signed a model contract with the agency IMG Models.

In 2016, four 90-minute new episodes, dubbed Gilmore Girls: A New Year in the Life, were produced by Gilmore Girls on behalf of Netflix, and Bledel stars alongside much of the old cast. In 2017, she starred in The Handmaid's Tale, for which she won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Bledel was in a relationship with her fellow actorMilo Ventimigliafrom late 2002 to mid-2006. In 2013 she becameengagedto actorVincent Kartheiser, whom shemarriedin June 2014 in California. In the fall of 2015, she gave birth to a son.
