Karlie Elizabeth Kloss was born on August 3, 1992. She is an American model.
Karlie Kloss was born in Chicago and grew up in St. Louis. At the age of 13, she was discovered at a local charity run fashion show. Encouraged by a teacher, she signed with Elite Model Management in 2007. In January 2008 she joined Next Model Management. For the following New York Fashion Week, Karlie Kloss was booked for 31 catwalks, including important positions such as closing for Marc Jacobs, opening for Carolina Herrera and both positions for Doo.Ri. She walked 20 shows in Milan and 13 in Paris - for a total of 64 runway appearances for the fall 2008 collections.
Since then, Karlie Kloss has walked the catwalks of influential designers such as Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld and Louis Vuitton, appeared in editorials for Elle, ID, Vanity Fair and Vogue and has been the face of numerous advertising campaigns for Donna Karan, Lacoste, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana and many others. Designer John Galliano has called the model his muse and booked her for both his own label and the House of Dior, both for the catwalk and for photo shoots. Her gait is a special trademark and is described as powerful and gentle at the same time.
On television, Karlie Kloss played herself when she appeared in the first episode of Gossip Girl's fourth season. In 2011 she made her debut at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. In 2013 she was featured in the Pirelli calendar.
In addition to ballet, which she credits as having a great deal of influence on the development of her runway walk, her hobbies include cycling and baking. Supermodel and TV presenter Tyra Banks called her her "currently favorite model" on Twitter because of her "special, own beauty".
Under the name “Kode with Klossy”, Kloss promotes programming courses and corresponding scholarships for girls and women. For this she was honored in 2017 with the Phenom Award at the ninth edition of the Shorty Awards in New York City.
In 2018 she married entrepreneur Joshua Kushner. He is the brother of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump.
