Biography of Billie Piper
Billie Piper was born on September 22, 1982 in Swindon, England. She is a British singer and actress.
His father, Paul Piper is a small entrepreneur. Her parents, who initially gave her the first name of Lianne, changed their minds after three weeks. Billie is the eldest of four children. From 12 to 15, she attended the Sylvia Young Theater School in London.
Thanks to her performance in a commercial, she was noticed by music producers. In 1996, when she was only 15, her career as a pop singer took off. Her debut single Because We Want To went straight to No. 1 in the UK. She becomes the youngest artist to reach the 1st place of the British charts. At that time, she was known only as "Billie."
She released her debut album, Honey to the B, and went straight to number 14 in the UK charts, selling over 300,000 copies and going platinum in New Zealand. In Australia, the album went relatively unnoticed, only reaching number 31 on the charts.
In 1999, she recorded a song for the English version of Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, titled "Makin' My Way (Any Way That I Can)"
After a few small roles in film and television, her career as an actress really began in 2005 when she was given a leading role in the unstoppable science fiction series Doctor Who, which has been broadcast since 1963 on BBC One. She was rewarded at the National Television Awards as well as at the TV Quick Awards for this role.
In 2007, she appeared in the adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, Mansfield Park, broadcast on ITV1. The same year, she is the main actress of the new series Secret Diary of a Call Girl of the British channel ITV adapted from The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl, autobiographical novel by Dr Brooke Magnanti, known as Belle de Jour.
In 2011, she joined the cast of Robin Sheppard's romantic comedy, Truth about Lies. She also stars in the two-part drama A Passionate Woman on the BBC in April 2010.
In 2014, she was chosen by sky and showtime to play Brona Croft, an Irish immigrant, in the series Penny Dreadful.
In 2018, she made her debut behind the camera with the launch of the production of her first film entitled Rare Beasts, of which she is also the screenwriter, a film which brings together David Thewlis, Leo Bill and Kerry Fox. The following year, she was part of the cast of Eternal Beauty.
Also a theater actress, she headlined Yerma in the West End in 2016-2017 as well as during the play's overseas export to the Park Avenue Armory in New York in 2018.
From November 2011 to January 2012, she played Carly in Neil LaBute's play Reasons to Be Pretty at the Almeida Theatre. In 2012-2013, she played the lead role in The Effect at the Royal National Theatre, a role for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award as well as the Evening Standard Theater Awards.
