Amanda Laura Bynes was born on April 3, 1986 in Thousand Oaks, California. She is an American actress and former Nickelodeon show host.

Her career began as a cast member on the show All That, later becoming the star of The Amanda Show. Some of her films are notable, such as Big Fat Liar, in which she first took on a major role, and What a Girl Wants, in which she starred. Her voice actress was mostly Marie-Luise Schramm.

Bynes starred opposite Jennie Garth on the sitcom What I Like About You from 2002 to 2006, best known for her role on Beverly Hills, 90210. After that, Amanda Bynes starred in the film She's the Man. A year later, she starred alongside John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer in the musical adaptation Hairspray and in the teen film Sydney White.

In the "List of the highest salaries of stars under 21" published by the US business magazine Forbes in early 2007, Bynes landed in 5th place with a salary of $2.5 million per year.

In February 2010, Bynes posed as the cover girl for the US edition of men's magazine Maxim. She was also seen opposite Emma Stone in the film Easy A. In 2011, Bynes was scheduled to have a cameo in the film Hall Pass, but she turned it down.

At the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, Amanda Bynes announced that she was taking a break from acting. However, Bynes announced that she has retired from acting and cut ties with her management to pursue a career as a fashion designer in New York City.

In December 2018 she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Bynes has been under her mother's guardianship since 2013. Guardianship ended in March 2022.
