Amanda Michelle Seyfried was born on December 3, 1985 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She is an American actress and singer.

Amanda Seyfried was born to Ann, an occupational therapist, and Jack Seyfried, a pharmacist. She comes from a family with mostly German roots and has an older sister named Jennifer. In 2003 she graduated from high school in her native town of Allentown.

She began her career as a child model at the age of eleven, and only later did she start her acting career as an actress in soap operas, including As the World Turns and All My Children. In the meantime she studied at New York's Fordham University. Seyfried got her break as a film actress in 2004 as one of the leading actresses in the teen comedy Mean Girls.

Seyfried played the role of Lilly Kane in the UPN television series Veronica Mars. She starred alongside Justin Timberlake in the 2006 film Alpha Dog. She starred as Sarah Henrickson on the HBO series Big Love until 2011, alongside former Veronica Mars co-stars Tina Majorino and Kyle Gallner. One of her best-known film roles is Sophie in the musical Mamma Mia!, in which she stars alongside film greats such as Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth. In 2009, Seyfried starred alongside Megan Fox in the film Jennifer's Body. The following year she appeared in The Glow in the Silence opposite Channing Tatum and in Letters to Juliet alongside Christopher Egan and Vanessa Redgrave. In the film Red Riding Hoodshe played the main role of the village girl Valerie. Timberlake and Seyfried play the leading roles in the 2011 film In Time.

In 2012, she starred in the film adaptation of the musical of the same name, Les Misérables, alongside Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. She also took on the lead role in the biopic Lovelace, about the life of American porn actress Linda Lovelace. She also stars in the 2015 film Ted 2 as attorney Samantha Leslie Jackson.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars annually.

In 2021, Seyfried won Best Supporting Actress in Mank at the Satellite Awards and received an Oscar nomination that same year.

Between 2008 and 2010, Seyfried and Dominic Cooper were a couple. She was in arelationshipwith Justin Long from 2013 to 2015. In March 2017 shemarriedactorThomas Sadoski. They are parents to a daughter born in 2017 and a son born in 2020.
