Biography of Laura Prepon
Laura Prepon was born on March 7, 1980, in Watchung, New Jersey.
She was the youngest of five children born to Marjorie Coll, a high school teacher, and Michael Prepon, an orthopedic surgeon.
She has Russian-Jewish ancestry on her father's side, and English, German, and Irish-Catholic ancestry on her mother's side. Her maternal great-great-grandfather was Union Army General Joseph Bradford Carr.
She attended Watchung Hills Regional High School, and in 1996, she took drama classes at the Total Theater Lab in New York City.
She worked for almost two years as a model in Paris.
She played Donna Pinciotti on the FOX series That '70s Show (1998–2006), for which she received a Teen Choice Award nomination for TV Choice Actress, Comedy (2002).
She recorded two episodes of the CBS series, How I Met Your Mother, playing Karen.
In 2010, she appeared in an episode of the sixth season of House; in 2011, she worked on an episode of the series Castle, and in 2012, on Are you there, Chelsea? like Chelsea Newman.
She voiced characters from television series such as American Dad! and King of the Hill, and in the video game Halo 2. In 2012, she guest-starred on Men at Work as Hannah in the episode Plan B.
Since 2013, she has played the role of inmate Alex Vause in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.
In the cinema she debuted with the independent film Southlander (2001). She went on to appear in the drama Come Early Morning (2006), the comedy Lay the Favorite (2012), the thriller The Girl on the Train (2016) based on the Paula Hawkins novel of the same title, and The Hero (2017).
In 2015 and 2016, she was awarded two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In 2007, she declared herself a follower of the Church of Scientology since 1999. She revealed in 2021 that she had not practiced Scientology since 2016.
In 2016, she and nutritionist Elizabeth Troy co-wrote The Stash Plan, a nutrition book that made the New York Times Best Seller list.
She was in a relationship with Christopher Masterson from 2000 to 2007, known for his work on Malcolm In The Middle. Additionally, she was associated with actor Scott Michael Foster for five years.
On October 7, 2016, she confirmed her relationship with actor Ben Foster. In September 2017, they welcomed a girl, Ella. She had a son in February 2020.
