Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26, 1993 in Boca Raton, Florida. She is an American singer and actress. She is best known for her role as Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon series Victorious and its offshoot Sam & Cat, and for her internationally successful second studio album My Everything. Five of their six albums reached number one on the US Billboard charts. Her fourth studio album Sweetener was awarded a Grammy in 2019. She broke numerous Billboard records.
Ariana Grande was born in 1993 to descendants of Italian immigrants in Boca Raton, Florida, where she grew up. Their ancestors come from Sicily and Abruzzo. She has a half brother, born in 1983, who is an actor. Grande studied singing and hired Eric Vetro as a vocal coach.
As a child, she began acting in Boca Raton at the Former Little Palm Theater for Young People. A few years later she performed in Fort Lauderdale at the Children's Theater (FLCT). Because of her acting activities, she dropped out of school, but remained enrolled in high school and worked with a private tutor on the subject matter.
In 2008, Grande played Charlotte in the Broadway musical 13, for which she received the National Youth Theater Association Award. On Broadway, she met actress Elizabeth Gillies, who later also starred in Victorious. Grande also played the role of Miriam in the first reading for Desmond Child's musical Cuba Libre.
In 2009, she auditioned for the role of Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon series Victorious, dying her hair red; she got the role. Like the other main cast of the series, she starred in the 2011 film iCarly: Party with Victorious, a crossover between Victorious and iCarly. Both series were produced by Dan Schneider. She appeared in the Victoria Justice music videos Freak the Freak Out, Beggin' on Your Knees, All I Want Is Everything and Make it in America. In 2009 and 2010 she performed at the Birdland Jazz Club in New York City with Miranda Sings. In 2011, Grande voiced Princess Diaspro in the Nickelodeon animated television series Winx Club.
In 2012, Grande starred in the Nickelodeon feature film The Great Scam with Jennette McCurdy, Noah Munck, and Ciara Bravo. In December 2012, she starred opposite Charlene Tilton and Neil Patrick Harris in a theatrical production of Snow White Christmas at the Pasadena Playhouse.
In 2011 she signed a record deal with the record label Universal Republic Records. Their first single Put Your Hearts Up was released in December 2011. At the end of the month, Grande performed her first sold-out concert at Irving Plaza in New York City.
In March 2013, Grande's first single from the album The Way was released in the USA. Her debut album Yours Truly was released in August 2013. It topped the Billboard 200 in its first week, selling over 138,000 copies. At the American Music Awards in November 2013, Grande won the New Artist of the Year category.
Her second studio album entitled My Everything was released in August 2014. She premiered her first single, Problem with Iggy Azalea, live at the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards in April 2014.
In 2014, Grande won Best Song for the song Problem and Best Female Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards. In November 2014, Grande received the Bambi from Hubert Burda Media in the Newcomer category. She was also nominated in two categories at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
At the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Grande presented her single Side to Side along with Nicki Minaj. The song reached number 4 in the US singles chart.
I Grande's fourth studio album, Sweetener, was released in August 2018. Half produced by the American producer Pharrell Williams, the album is characterized by synth, funk and pop sounds alongside the dance rhythms known from Grande.
In February 2019 she released her fifth studio album Thank U, Next and single Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard albums chart. Since the Beatles in 1964, Grande was the first singer to make the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100.
In September 2019, Grande released the single Don't Call Me Angel along with Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey. This is the official Charlie's Angels theme song.
At the 2020 Grammy Awards, Grande was nominated five times but failed to win in any category. In May, the single Stuck with U was released together with Justin Bieber, which entered the US singles chart at number one.
In May, together with Lady Gaga, the second single release Rain on Me from Gaga's sixth studio album Chromatica followed. Rain on Me's music video received three awards at the MTV Video Music Awards. The song also won Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
In October 2020, Grande's sixth studio album Positionsand the first single Positions were released. In December 2020, the Netflix tour documentary Ariana Grande: Excuse Me,I Love You was released.
Between October 2014 and April 2015 she was in a relationshipwith rapperBig Sean. In September 2016, she confirmed her relationship with rapper Mac Miller. The couple separated in May 2018. In June 2018, she becameengagedto American comedianPete Davidson. The couple separated in October 2018. In May 2020, she went public with her relationship with real estaate gentDalton Gomezin the music video Stuck with U (feat.Justin Bieber). The two gotengagedin December 2020. In May 2021, the couplemarriedin close family circles.
Grande has beenvegansince 2013. She also supportsPETAand showed up with a shirt from this animal rights organization on the way to the recording studio.
She lent her voice to the zebra in the 2019 charity song Earth, whose profits go to various environmental organizations. In 2019 she tried, together with other stars, to draw public attention to theAmazon fires. In 2020 she opened an animal shelter in Los Angeles.
