Biography of Emmanuelle Béart

Emmanuelle Béart was born on August 14, 1965, in Gassin, France.

She is the daughter of Geneviève Galea, a former Croatian model, and Guy Béart, a singer and poet.

She made her debut at the age of ten in the film Demain Les Momes. While studying in Montreal, Robert Altman suggested that she become an actress.

In 1984 she worked in the film First Desires, and she later won a César Award for her performance in Jean de Florette. That same year she appeared in Manon des Sources, a performance with which she became famous and a film in which her husband would also work, the actor Daniel Auteuil, with whom she later worked, already separated, in A Heart in Winter and in A French Woman.

She was nominated for a further seven César Awards, for Best Actress for the films: Les Enfants du désordre, La Belle Noiseuse, Nelly and Mr Arnaud and Les Destinées Sentimentales, and for Most Promising Actress for Strange Passion and Love on the Quiet.

From January 1995, she was an ambassador for Christian Dior. True to the haute couture and ready-to-wear shows, she wears the 'jewels' of the house both on screen and in her daily life.

In 2003, she appeared nude in Elle magazine, which sold out the print run of 550,000 copies in three days.

In 2014, she shot Les Yeux jaunes des crocodiles in which she worked with Julie Depardieu, Alice Isaaz and Jacques Weber. In 2017, she starred in the drama Beyond the Known World.

She married Daniel Auteuil in 1993, they had a daughter Nelly, they divorced in 1995.

She was a couple of David François Moreau, with whom she had her son Johan.

On August 13, 2008, she married actor Michaël Cohen, in 2009 they adopted a child from Ethiopia, whom they named Surafel. They broke up in 2011.

In September 2018, she married Frédéric Chaudier.
