Isabella Khair "Bella" Hadid was born on October 9, 1996 in Washington, D.C. She is an American model.
Bella Hadid was born was born to former Dutch model Yolanda Hadid and Jordanian real estate agent of Palestinian descent Mohamed Hadid. Hadid has an older sister, Gigi Hadid, and a younger brother, Anwar Hadid, who is also a model. She has two older paternal half-sisters and five stepsisters from her stepfather, music producer David Foster. Hadid and her siblings grew up on a ranch in Santa Barbara and then moved to Malibu.
As a teenager, Hadid was an equestrian and wanted to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She had to give up this wish in 2013 because she suffered from chronic Lyme disease. She, her mother and her brother were diagnosed in 2012, but it was only announced in October 2015.
Hadid began modeling at the age of 16 for a Flynn Skye commercial. She has also starred in Lesa Amoore's Swan Sittings alongside actor Ben Barnes and Holly Copeland's Smoking Hot. She modeled for designer Hannah Hayes' Fall/Winter campaign and has also been featured in a number of different ad projects and the ChromeHearts Summer 2013 campaign. In the fall of 2014, she moved to New York City, where she began studying photography at Parsons The New School for Design. Shortly thereafter, she signed a contract with IMG Models and dropped out of college.
She made her fall 2014 debut at New York Fashion Week when she was signed to the Desigual show. She walked for Tom Ford at Spring 2015 Fashion Week in Los Angeles and at AmFAR's 22nd Cinema Against AIDS Gala Fashion Show in May. At New York Fashion Week in fall 2015, she walked for Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott. She walked for Topshop Unique and Giles at London Fashion Week, and for Philipp Plein, Moschino, Missoni and Bottega Veneta at Milan Fashion Week. At Paris Fashion Week, she showed up at Balmain. In December 2015 she made her debut at Chanel. Furthermore, she was on various covers such. B. the Australian Vogue Australia and Elle shown.
Hadid was one of eight models selected for Topshop's Holiday Campaign. She also starred alongside her sister Gigi in Balmain's Spring 2015 campaign. Victoria's Secret hired her for their Christmas campaign. In late 2015, she was voted Top Newcomer of 2015 by Models.com readers. In March 2016, she won the Model of the Year Award at the Daily Front Row's Fashion Los Angeles Awards. In June 2016, Hadid was named to Models.com's Top 50 Models list.
Alongside Frank Ocean and Kate Moss, she was part of the international Calvin Klein campaign and the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2016 and Resortline 2017 campaigns. In May, Hadid became the face of Dior Make-up.
