Biography of Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984 in Manhattan, New York.

She is the daughter of the Danish builder Karlsten Johansson and Melanie Sloan, American, with Polish descent. She had a twin brother, Hunter, a stepbrother, Christian, her father's son, and two more brothers named Vanesa and Adrian, all older than her.

Her beginnings in the cinema were at the hands of director Rob Reiner in the film A Boy Called North in 1994, later she had a leading role in the film Manny & Lo in 1996 directed by Lisa Krueger. She stood out in Robert Redford's film The Horse Whisperer (1998), confirming herself as one of the great promises of American cinema. She subsequently appeared in Ghost World (2000), The Man Who Wasn't There (2001), Arac Attack (2002).

In 2003, she had two Golden Globe nominations for best actress for Lost in translation, a film directed by Sofia Coppola and Girl with a pearl earring, a drama directed by Peter Webber in which Scarlett co-starred with Colin Firth.

In 2005, she stood out in Woody Allen's film Match Point, shot entirely in London and where she played Nola Rice, a role for which she was nominated for best supporting actress at the 2006 Golden Globes, the year in which she appears in The Black Dahlia, by the American director Brian de Palma. She shot her third film with Woody Allen, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, playing Anna, a yoga instructor.

In 2009, she worked on He's Just Not That Into You which became a box office hit. In March of that same year, she signed on to play the role of Black Widow in Iron Man, the film was released in May 2010.

She was Natasha Romanoff in The Avengers in 2012. The film became the third highest grossing in the world.

On May 2, 2012, she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2014, the film adaptation of Michel Faber's novel Under the Skin, directed by Jonathan Glaser. She returned to embody Black Widow in the 2014 sequel Captain America the Winter Soldier.

She also continued to work as a model for advertisements and on May 20, 2008, she made her debut as a singer on the music album Anywhere I Lay My Head, in which she covered various songs by singer Tom Waits.

In 2014, she starred in Luc Besson's sci-fi film Lucy. Between 2015 and 2016, she reprized the role of Romanoff in the films Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War.

She appeared in the Coen brothers' comedy Hail, Caesar! In 2017, she had the role of Motoko Kusanagi in the film adaptation of Rupert Sanders' Ghost in the Shell. That same year she shot Rough Night. A year later she returned to work as Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Infinity War.

In 2019, she became Black Widow again in Avengers: Endgame, which became the highest-grossing movie of all time. She had the role of Noah Baumbach in Marriage Story, working alongside Adam Driver. She later worked on Jojo Rabbit, set in Nazi Germany.

She regularly appeared on lists of the sexiest women in the world, such as Esquire magazine's Sexiest Woman Alive in 2006 and 2013 (the only one to be chosen twice), and also in the sexiest of the celebrities of the Playboy magazine in 2007.

She announced her engagement to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds in May 2008, and in September, the couple told People magazine that she had married in the strictest of privacy outside of Vancouver, Canada. This same magazine was chosen to spread the statement with which the couple announced the end of their marriage on December 14, 2010.

In 2011, she dated actor Sean Penn.

In 2012, she was related to the French journalist Romain Dauriac, with whom in September 2014 she had her daughter Rose Dorothy. Johansson and Dauriac were married in October of that same year. They divorced in September 2017.

In December 2017 she went public with her relationship with Colin Jost, co-writer of Saturday Night Live and Weekend Update co-host. As of May 2019, Johansson and Jost were engaged. They got married in October 2020.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Just, were parents of Cosmo, the first child of her in common, in August 2021.
