Biography of Kelly Hu
Kelly Ann Hu was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 13, 1968. She is an American actress and former model. She was Miss Teen USA 1985 and Miss Hawaii USA 1993.
Hu was born the daughter of Juanita, a Honolulu engineer, and Herbert Hu, a salesman and bird breeder, who divorced when she was still a child. She has a brother, Glenn, who is a human resources administrator in the United States Army. Although American, Hu is of Chinese descent. She attended elementary school and went through high school at the Kamehameha Schools. She graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
As data of interest, she has dedicated herself to singing, dancing and martial arts since she was a child. A cousin of Hu's succeeded as a model, and after hearing about it, she Hu decided to jump into the world of fashion. She won Miss Teen USA 1985 and Miss Hawaii USA 1993.
Hu made it big as a model in Italy and Japan, and she became widely known after advertising the Philadelphia cheese brand on television, playing a young woman named Kaori. Hu later moved to Los Angeles and began her acting career in 1987, with a guest starring role as Mike Seaver Hawaiian being seduced by Growing Pains. After cameo appearances in various series and movies, she was cast as Dr. Rae Chang on Sunset Beach for six months in 1997.
Since then, she has been in numerous TV shows and movies, including Nash Bridges (1997-1998), The Scorpion King (2002), Cradle 2 the Grave (2003), X-Men 2 (2003), Underclassman (2005), The Tournament (2009),The Vampire Diaries (2010-2011) and White Frog (2012), among others. She plays Abigail Cho in the series Warehouse 13 on the Syfy channel (2013-2014).
